Santa Tracker is a fun educational and interactive way for kids of all ages to celebrate the season. We were lucky to team up again with the insanely talented Google Maps and Dev Platforms teams for the 4th year in a row to design and help develop Santa's Village and the Tracker.
We worked with Google to build an amazing collection of games over the last few years working on Santa Tracker. For year four, we wanted to make all this great content easier for people to find and experience. It’s all optimized for just about any screen, so anyone can track Santa on the ho-ho-go.
A brand new world
We worked closely with Google to completely redesign Santa's Village this year. Instead of a side-scrolling close up view of the village, we took a birds-eye-view of Santa's town. This let users more easily understand where to find games and how to interact with the site. We continued the advent calendar approach with a new game available each day of December.
Ho ho ho and ha ha ha
Every year we work with leading animators to create short videos to include in the Village and Tracker. The videos are all kinds of fun and are easily embeddable and shareable.

Fun & reindeer games
From games that introduce basic concepts of coding to geography quizzes, to providing lesson plans to teachers, we worked closely with the Maps team to create learning experiences between all the fun and games. Also, Santa Tracker reflected the spirit of the giving back by connecting people to critical issues and charity organization during the holiday season, a key initiative of Google.org.
The app lets people play games with elves in jetpacks, rolling gumballs, sleighs powered by rockets and play in 3D with Google Cardboard. We had the chance to design the app experience this year to fit holistically with the overall Santa Tracker aesthetics.
The big day
Santa's trip around the world is the biggest moment for the site. We had the chance to create a new design for the Tracker with an improved user interface, a prominent activity feed and heaping amounts of fun. People can jump into city view from either the map or the feed, and learn about each place Santa stops.
